Platyko is a JavaScript learning app for iOS, built and operated by Ido Yahav, an individual developer based in Israel. These terms are the agreement between you and us when you use the app. They are written in plain English on purpose — the short version is below, and the full version follows.
Platyko is currently free, with no purchases or subscriptions. Anyone can learn in Guest Mode from age 6; creating an account requires being 13 or older.
No cheating in duels, no exploiting bugs, no bots or scraping. The app works because everyone competes on the same terms.
One account per person, with a real email address. Keep your credentials safe — and you can delete your account any time in Settings.
Lessons, puzzles, the mascot, and branding belong to us. You get a personal, non-commercial license to use them inside the app.
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are a legal agreement between you and Ido Yahav, an individual developer based in Israel (“we”, “us”, or “the operator”), covering your use of the Platyko iOS app (“the app”) and this website.
By downloading, installing, or using the app, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian should review these Terms with you.
How we handle your personal data is described separately in our Privacy Policy, which is part of the same agreement.
Platyko has two ways to use it, with different age requirements:
By creating an account, you confirm that you are 13 or older and that any information you provide during registration is accurate. If we learn that an account holder is under 13, we will delete the account and its data as described in the Privacy Policy.
If you choose to create an account, a few simple rules apply:
You can delete your account at any time in the app under Settings → Delete Account — see Section 07.
Platyko is a learning community built on fair competition. When using the app, you agree not to:
Breaking these rules can lead to suspension or termination of your account (Section 07). We would much rather you just enjoy learning JavaScript.
The main content you can add to Platyko is a profile avatar. If you upload one:
We may remove any avatar that violates these rules, at our discretion and without prior notice. Repeated violations may lead to account suspension or termination.
Everything that makes up Platyko — the lessons, courses, puzzles, duel questions, the mascot, the Platyko name and logo, and the app’s design and code — belongs to the operator and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.
We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app and its content for your own personal, non-commercial learning. This license does not allow you to:
The JavaScript language itself, and the code you write while learning, are of course not ours — what you learn and build is yours.
We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms — for example, by cheating in duels, exploiting bugs, uploading inappropriate avatars, or abusing other users. Where reasonable, we will warn you first, but for serious or repeated violations we may act immediately.
You can stop using Platyko at any time, and you can delete your account directly in the app under Settings → Delete Account. Deletion is immediate and permanent. What happens to your data when you delete your account is described in the Privacy Policy.
Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination — including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and governing law — survive it.
The app is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied — including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement — to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the operator will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including loss of data, loss of progress (such as streaks or duel history), or loss of profits — arising out of or related to your use of, or inability to use, the app.
To the same extent, the operator’s total aggregate liability for all claims relating to the app will not exceed the amount you paid us to use the app in the twelve months before the claim arose — which, for a free app with no purchases, is zero, or, where a minimum cannot be excluded, the smallest amount permitted by law.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including where relevant liability for death, personal injury, or willful misconduct.
Platyko is distributed through Apple’s App Store. The following terms apply between you, us, and Apple Inc. (“Apple”):
We may update these Terms as the app evolves or as legal requirements change. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. For material changes — anything that meaningfully affects your rights or obligations — we will also notify registered users in the app or by email before the change takes effect.
If you continue using the app after updated Terms take effect, that means you accept them. If you do not agree with a change, stop using the app and, if you have an account, delete it in Settings.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Israel, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the app will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts in Israel.
If you are a consumer in a jurisdiction whose laws give you mandatory protections or the right to bring proceedings in your local courts, nothing in this section takes those rights away.
